CAR CONVERSATIONS: Was there a time you disagreed with someone? How did you handle it?

KINDNESS CORNER: A parent recently shared a powerful reflection about their child’s experience at school. Not long ago, mornings were very challenging. Now, that same child is eager to come to school each day. In fact, there was excitement about getting to school as quickly as possible—something the family once never imagined! Principal Highlights

Dear Cedar Hill Families,

This week we celebrated our amazing first graders during Incredible Kid Day! Students also had a wonderful time celebrating St. Patrick’s Day the Cedar Hill way—by demonstrating Compassion, Honor, and Service while spreading joy through shamrocks shared with staff. Some students also put their creativity to the test by designing leprechaun traps, and each grade level enjoyed a “leprechaun hunt” organized by our Student Council! These activities provide a wonderful opportunity for students to practice this month’s character education focus: positive communication. Throughout the month, students have taken part in a classroom challenge to speak kindly to one another and resolve conflicts peacefully.

We’d love for you to share kind words about members of our Cedar Hill community for our weekly Friday Folder in our new Kindness Corner! As the saying goes, “It takes a village to raise a child,” and when students see and hear about the kindness of the wonderful adults around them, they are inspired to do the same. Please keep responses to a few sentences and avoid including names or identifying details—we’ll be sure to pass your kind words along! By spreading positivity, we can model kind communication for our Golden Owls and help our community shine! ✨

Note from the Nurse-Seasonal Allergies - If your child suffers from seasonal allergies, the general rule is, when we spring the clocks ahead you start your allergy meds.  This helps to ensure that you are ahead of the blooming flowers and tree pollen. It may also help to eliminate the symptoms that are due to allergies and not confuse those common symptoms with a covid viral infection.

Tips for Managing Seasonal Allergies

● Have your child wear a hat and sunglasses to prevent pollen from getting in their eyes.
● Remove your child’s clothes as soon as they come indoors and wash them to remove allergens.
● Leave shoes at the door so your family doesn’t track allergens through your home.
● Wash your child’s hands and face as soon as they come in from the outdoors.
● Have your child shower nightly to prevent transferring pollen from their hair and body to their pillow and sheets.

Please complete this important lunch survey to help our cafeteria continually improve.
