KINDNESS CORNER: We would like to thank our son's teacher for his dedication! He made my son feel so supported. As a new student here, this level of support is absolutely impressive. This makes my son feel especially special when coming to a new school and being able to talk to the teacher 1:1 every day. Thank you! Click HERE to share a compliment!

CHARACTER CAR CONVERSATIONS: What’s one way you could be a good friend with your words today and tomorrow?

Principal Highlights

Dear Cedar Hill Families,

This week, our 2nd and 3rd-graders met author Matthew McElligott. He shared tips for starting stories and explained the research behind writing a book. Students created their own characters and observed the illustration process. He also spoke about his lifelong love of writing and drawing, inspiring students to follow their dreams! We'd like to thank the PTO, as well as Gabby Alirangues and Erica Potosky, for organizing this visit!  On Wednesday, our Hill Golden Owls proudly showcased their learning at our annual STEM Fair. Students explored topics of personal interest, designing and presenting independent projects and inventions they developed at home. From testing which foods create the best batteries to applying Pascal’s Principle to build a hydraulic maze, their innovation and creativity were truly inspiring to see in action!   We'd like to thank Colleen Collins for all of her help behind the scenes as we prepared for this event. We'd also like to thank all of the parents who donated items for our 5th-Grade Bake Sale, especially Kamila Ballister and Alison McKenna for organizing it!

School is closed on Friday, April 3, for Good Friday. Spring break will take place April 13-17.

Summer Activities Program - Click the link for more information.

Get cozy this April 22nd for our "Comfy-Cozy Day," because while April showers bring May flowers, there’s no better way to wait for the bloom than in your favorite pajamas! (No slippers or crocs, please.)

Note from the Nurse: Seasonal Allergies - If your child suffers from seasonal allergies, the general rule is that when we spring the clocks ahead, you start your allergy meds.  This helps to ensure that you are ahead of the blooming flowers and tree pollen. It may also help to eliminate the symptoms that are due to allergies and not confuse those common symptoms with a covid viral infection.

Tips for Managing Seasonal Allergies

● Have your child wear a hat and sunglasses to prevent pollen from getting in their eyes.
● Remove your child’s clothes as soon as they come indoors and wash them to remove allergens.
● Leave shoes at the door so your family doesn’t track allergens through your home.
● Wash your child’s hands and face as soon as they come in from the outdoors.
● Have your child shower nightly to prevent transferring pollen from their hair and body to their pillow and sheets.

Please complete this important lunch survey to help our cafeteria continually improve.

It's that magical time of year where we get to celebrate and support our school library.  This year we are looking to see if we can donate as many books as Mrs. Jones is tall!  During the month of April, books purchased off of our Amazon Wish List will be stacked up and if we get to 5'6" tall, Mrs. Jones will dress up as Captain Underpants!!  Thank you for supporting our school library by donating books and spreading the word to help us have the best library for our fabulous readers.

Would you like to send a note to Mrs. Licata? Click here for more info!

Next week’s Word of the Week is marveled. Marveled means to be filled with wonder or amazement. An example sentence for this word is: The audience marveled at the magician’s tricks. Please review with your children at home if possible!
